Environmental Farm Plans

This program assists farmers and landowners to identify and incorporate best environmental practices in their farming activities by developing a practical plan for operating their farm in a way that is environmentally sustainable, socially acceptable, and economically viable.

This industry led initiative assists farmers in developing a strong environmental awareness in all aspects of their farming operation. Information on the program is available on-line at PEI Federation of Agriculture.

Who is eligible?

Agricultural land owners

What activities are eligible?

Participants work through a computerized self-assessment workbook and identify goals to develop an Action Plan.  Partners, co-shareholders, spouses and other key persons in the business are also encouraged to participate in the self-assessment exercise.

What is funding is available?

Participants that have completed the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) exercise and have an approved EFP Action Plan are eligible to apply for funding under the Agriculture Stewardship Program. Projects eligible for approval under the Agriculture Stewardship Program must be identified in the EFP Action Plan.

When does the program end?

This program may be altered or discontinued without notice by the Minister of Agriculture.

How do I apply?

Participants must contact the PEI Federation of Agriculture to set up a date for the self assessment workshop.
