How do I use CHRIS?

There are a couple of resources that provide step-by-step instructions on how to use CHRIS:

What is CHRIS?

The PEI Climate Hazard & Risk Information System (CHRIS) is an interactive map portal that you can browse to visualize different climate hazards that affect PEI’s communities and properties. The mapping portal includes information on:

  • Areas at risk to inland flooding caused by intense rainfall
  • Inland flooding depths
  • Areas at affected by coastal flooding
  • Coastal flooding depths
  • Coastal change and erosion data for the past 50 years

The data on CHRIS can be downloaded.

Who can use CHRIS?

CHRIS is designed for use by all audiences including the public, professionals, and decision-makers. The data and resources shown can be used to make informed decisions to reduce climate risk and be more resilient to a changing climate.

What is the difference between coastal flooding and inland flooding?

CHRIS shows both areas at risk to both coastal flooding and inland flooding.  Visit the Flood Risks in PEI video to learn more.

Limitation of Liability: Government, its agents, representatives, and employees shall not be liable for any claims, demands, losses, costs, damages, actions, suits or proceedings of every nature and kind, whatsoever, arising out of or resulting from any reliance on the Climate Hazard Risk Information System.
