John J. Sark Memorial Scholarships
The scholarship program was established in the name of distinguished Mi'kmaq Islander John James Sark in September 2009. He earned a post-secondary education at St. Dunstan's University, and was the Island's first Mi'kmaq teacher.
What is the scholarship?
The program awards three $1,000 scholarships to Aboriginal students at the University of Prince Edward Island.
Who qualifies for the scholarship?
To be eligible for the scholarships, the applicant must be:
- Aboriginal (First Nations, Metis or Inuit)
- Registered in full time in an undergraduate studies program at UPEI
Students will be reviewed based on their level of involvement and leadership in their aboriginal community, as detailed in a personal statement with supporting reference letters and additional material as outline on the application form.
