Cancer Treatment Wait Times
What is the wait time to see a radiation oncologist?
This wait time is based on patients referred to see a Radiation Oncologist without delays.
Some patients may experience a delay due to a pre-existing medical condition needing attention, other required procedures or treatments (e.g. surgery), or at the patient's request.
Additional delays may occur if the referral does not include all the necessary information or if test results are pending.

How are the wait times measured?
Referral to see a radiation oncologist
The wait time for referral to a specialist is measured from when the referral is received at the Cancer Treatment Centre, until the time of your appointment.
Radiation treatment
The wait time is measured from the time your oncologist deems you ready to treat to the time of your first radiation treatment.
This does not include the wait time from your visit with your family physician or medical oncologist and the referral received for an appointment to see a radiation oncologist.
Wait time estimates are based on data collected from the ARIA System between April 1 and September 30, 2024.
