About the Social Programs Appeal Board

An applicant has the right to an appeal to an independent authority should they not be satisfied with the decisions made with respect to their application for assistance. The role of the Social Programs Appeal Board is to provide an independent hearing for disputed decisions.

The Board functions to ensure the Social Assistance Act, Supports for Persons with Disabilities Actregulations and policies are upheld.

Who serves on the appeal board?

Members of the board are appointed from among individuals who apply through Engage PEI.

Who is the minister responsible?

The minister responsible is the Minister of Social Development and Seniors.
