Best of Sea

The PEI Best of Sea restaurant promotion and culinary competition runs the month of June.

June 1st marks the launch of Prince Edward Island’s Best of Sea restaurant promotion and culinary competition, says Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Alan McIsaac.

“Throughout the month of June local restaurants are being challenged to create unique seafood dishes that showcase Prince Edward Island’s premium seafood products,” said Minister McIsaac. “Best of Sea is an opportunity for local restaurants to promote the talent of their chefs while providing customers with a high-quality meal featuring our world renowned seafood.”

Best of Sea will run June 1 to June 30 in 19 Prince Edward Island restaurants from O’Leary to St. Peter’s. There will be 20 Executive Chefs and Cooks involved in the competition that will feature 40 unique, locally-created seafood dishes. Menus will include the use of a total of 13 different species of P.E.I. seafood. Chefs will also be making an effort to use other P.E.I. food and beverage products with their Best of Sea dishes.

Islanders and visitors are encouraged to visit bestofsea.com to begin their culinary adventure. On the website you will find a list of participating restaurants, the participating chef at that establishment and a description of the dish they are offering, along with the price.

After trying all that the Best of Sea promotion has to offer, Islanders and visitors are encouraged to vote for what restaurant they feel should be determined the winner of Best of Sea. These votes will be considered by the professional judging panel that will be scoring on presentation, taste and menu. There are three categories in which participating establishments can win – a creative cooks division, chique chefs division and the Best of Sea 2016 Chique Chef Award.
