Provincial analytical lab reaccredited
Islanders can be fully confident in the agricultural and water test results they receive from the provincial government.
The Prince Edward Island Analytical Laboratories has been reaccredited by the Standards Council of Canada. The reaccreditation recognizes that the labs meet the general requirements for the competency of testing labs.
The labs were first accredited in 2003 and have maintained their accreditation through biannual reassessments since that time.
“Islanders rely on the labs for timely and accurate analysis of samples that affect them in some way,” Communities, Land and Environment Minister Richard Brown said. “I congratulate the staff for their professionalism and for their commitment to provide high quality services.”
The labs are operated jointly by the departments of Communities, Land and Environment and Agriculture and Fisheries.
“Farmers use the lab test results to make informed decisions to improve the productivity and profitability of their operations,” Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Robert Henderson said. “The labs have consistently met and exceeded the increased demands for their services.”
PEI Analytical Laboratories provides chemical and microbiological analysis for water, soil, dairy, animal feed, seed, plant tissue, manure, and compost samples, and disease identification service for crops.
