Apply for an Electrical Contractor’s Licence

You must be a licensed electrical contractor in order to perform any electrical work in PEI. To qualify for an Electrical Contractor’s Licence you must be a certified electrician and have at least two years’ experience working as a certified electrician. In addition, you may be required to write an exam.

For information, refer to Part 2, page 6 of the Electrical Inspection Act Regulations.

Your electrical contractor’s licence will expire on December 31st and must be renewed each year.

Please note: An electrical permit is required for each electrical installation.

With the required documentation, you can complete the application in less than 10 minutes

What is the fee for an electrical contractor’s licence?

The fee for a one-year licence is $250

How long will it take to receive my licence?

Allow at least two weeks for your application to be processed.
