A real estate salesperson is an individual that is employed, appointed or authorized by a real estate agent (often called a broker) to trade in real estate.

Salesperson Licensing
Any real estate salesperson operating in PEI must be licensed through the Registrar of Real Estate and be employed by a licensed PEI Real Estate Agent in accordance with the Real Estate Trading Act.
License Term
A Real Estate Salesperson License is valid for two years.
Licenses can be renewed up to 3 months in advance of the license expiration. We recommend you submit your application at least 30 days in advance of the license expiration to allow time for processing.
Eligibility
To be eligible for real estate salesperson license you must:
- Be a least 18 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
- Successfully complete the education/examination requirements:
- PEI Real Estate Association pre-licensing course (or see below non-resident information for potential exemption)
- PEI Real Estate Association Provincial examination (non-residents only)
- Be sponsored/employed by a licensed PEI Real Estate Agent;
- Provide a recent Criminal Record Check, conducted at a detachment of the RCMP or a municipal/provincial police force
- Provide and maintain a surety bond of $2,000;
- Submit the non-refundable fee of $200; and
- Comply with the rules and regulations of the Real Estate Trading Act.
Non-residents or Transfers from out of Province
Course Requirements - If you currently hold or held a real estate salesperson license in other jurisdiction in the past 24 months, you may be exempt from taking the PEI Real Estate pre-licensing course if the Registrar of Real Estate determines your qualifications meet or exceed provincial education requirements.
Non-resident Examination - Passing the non-resident provincial examination is still required to get a PEI Real Estate Salesperson License, even if an exemption from taking PEIREA pre-licensing course is granted. For information on how to register for the exam, contact the PEI Real Estate Association or review the non-resident information on their website.
