Renew a Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR)

Your car must pass an inspection by a certified mechanic before renewing your registration. The mechanic will provide you with an inspection checklist which shows if the vehicle passed or failed inspection. This checklist is required to register your vehicle. Here is the list of inspection stations across PEI:

You can use this online service to renew registration for the following types of vehicles:

• passenger cars or taxicabs 
• ambulances and hearses 
• light trucks under 4,100 kg 
• motorcycles and mopeds 
• snowmobiles 
• motor homes 
• utility trailers under 450 kgs 

What do I need to renew my registration online?

You will need the following:

• current vehicle registration papers; 
• valid pink liability insurance card (if required);

How long will it take to process my registration?

• Once your online payment is complete, your motor vehicle registration will be updated immediately and available to police authorities. 
• Print and keep the payment receipt in your vehicle.
• Allow at least 30 days for your registration and sticker to reach you by mail. 
• If you do not receive the registration and sticker within 30 days, contact any Access PEI office.
