Driver Rehabilitation Course

Under the Highway Traffic Act, anyone convicted of impaired driving for drugs, alcohol or a combination of drugs and alcohol, refusing the alcohol roadside screening test, or failing the breathalyzer test, e.g. having a blood alcohol content equal to or over .08, is required to take a Driver Rehabilitation Course before their driver’s license will be reinstated.

Please note: Completion of this course does not guarantee that a license will be reinstated.

What does this course involve?

First-time offenders are required to take up to three hours of course material which consists of a series of films, lectures and discussions, demonstration projects and written assignments.

The course involves resource professionals including addiction counselors, police, legal, insurance and other professionals.

You will be notified by mail if you are required to take this course.

When is the course offered?

Highway Safety offers the Driver Rehabilitation Course twice a year in Charlottetown, Montague and Summerside.
