Submit Your Expression of Interest Profile

PEI Provincial immigration pathways are dependent upon federal immigration allocations, application volumes, and provincial labour market needs. The PEI Office of Immigration will process eligible applications and may prioritize higher demand sectors to best support labour market needs.

An Expression of Interest is not an application, but an indication of your interest in being considered to apply to the PEI PNP. The Office reserves the right to limit intake or make exclusions from Expressions of Interest draws.

All foreign nationals interested in applying for permanent residency through the PEI Office of Immigration Business Impact Category, Express Entry or Labour Impact Category must create an account and profile through our on-line Expression of Interest System.  If you are using a representative, they must submit a profile on your behalf.

How does the PEI Expression of Interest System work?

Immigration through the Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category, Express Entry or Labour Impact Category is a three-step process:

Step 1: Create an account and submit your profile to the Expression of Interest system.

Step 2: The highest-scoring, qualified candidates with a connection to Prince Edward Island will be invited to submit an application to the PEI PNP by our Office.

Step 3: Following a thorough review of the application submitted to the Office of Immigration, Prince Edward Island nominates successful candidates to apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residency.

Is a Foreign Qualification Recognition (FQR) the same as an Education Credential Assessment (ECA)?

Education Credential Assessment and Foreign Qualification Recognition are not the same.  If you have a foreign degree, diploma or certificate and you are creating a Federal Express Entry profile you must have an ECA.   If you have a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate, you do not require an ECA.  More information can be found on the IRCC website.

Foreign Qualification Recognition is the process of verifying qualifications (education, knowledge, skills, and work experience) obtained in another country are comparable to the Canadian standards established for an occupation.  In order to claim points in the Office of Immigration’s Expression of Interest system, you must have your qualifications recognized as required in Prince Edward Island.   Having an ECA does not allow you to claim these points. Read more about FQR here.

If I am applying through the Express Entry program do I create a profile as a skilled worker outside of PEI?

If you have a Federal Express Entry profile, you should submit a profile under PEI’s Express Entry program, NOT through the Skilled Worker Outside PEI category.

How can I update my personal information?

You can log into your Expression of Interest account at any time to update your personal information like a new address or your renewed passport information. If you notice a problem with your date of birth that was entered when you set up your account, please contact our Office directly by email.

Is it possible to change my NOC after submitting my profile?

You can change your NOC by withdrawing your profile and resubmitting a new profile with the updated information.

How do I check the status of my profile?

To check the status of your profile, you can login to the Expression of Interest system.  Any changes to your status are found on your home screen.  Those that have been invited to apply will have a file number and the status will read, "Invited to Apply". Once your complete application is received by our Office, your status will be updated to "Applied" within two business days. Please note our office does not post or guarantee processing times. Should a Program Officer have questions in regards to your application, they will reach out to you or your representative at that time.

Important
Information provided in the Expression of Interest Profile must be valid and verifiable. The Office of Immigration will compare information provided in application with the Expression of Interest Profile, if there is a discrepancy it may affect your application decision.  Files that have been determined to contain misrepresentations may be ineligible to apply to the Office of Immigration for 2 years.
