Bloyce Thompson was first elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope-Marshfield, in the 2019 general election. Bloyce was re-elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope- Marshfield, on April 3rd, 2023, and named the Deputy Premier, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Minister of Agriculture of PEI.

Bloyce is an active member of his community and the agriculture industry as a third-generation dairy farmer and businessman. He is a proud graduate of Dalhousie Agricultural College. He has served his industry as a member of the genetic evaluation board of the Canadian Dairy Network and as a board member of the Dairy Farmers of PEI.

As Minister of Agriculture, Bloyce has focused on increasing awareness and growing PEI’s agriculture on local and global stages. Supporting local farmers has been a priority for Bloyce as the Minister responsible for Agriculture, and some major accomplishments in that field include:

  • Launching FarmersTalk.ca, a first-of-its-kind mental health resource specifically for PEI farmers and farm families;
  • Introducing new environmental initiatives that can also benefit farmers economically such as lifting restrictions on water access for farmers, establishing new soil health initiatives, and implementing new energy efficiency programs specifically for farmers; and
  • Working with all levels of government and industry leaders to re-establish trade markets for PEI’s potato industry during imposed restrictions.

Bloyce and his wife Terri are the proud parents of three children, living in beautiful Frenchfort, PEI.
