Popular Salt Water Angling Locations

While the Island is famous for brook trout, rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon, many people also like to fish for salt water species, particularly when warm summer water places extra stress on the freshwater species.

From July to October, wharves*, breakwaters and piers across the Island are excellent places to fish for mackerel, flounder, smelts and striped bass. These fisheries are regulated by the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans - Recreational Fishery.  All catch and licensing questions should be directed to them.
