Trade Agreement on Procurement
Public Tenders are issued in accordance with the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA). This agreement has reduced interprovincial trade barriers and increased procurement opportunities for suppliers and allows for joint purchasing for potential cost savings.
PEI is participating in the Federal Provincial Territorial Collaborative Procurement Initiative. This collaboration makes it easier for suppliers to sell to multiple levels of government and expand their markets and enables the Province to purchase commodities such as office supplies, tires and laboratory supplies more efficiently and at rates negotiated by the Government of Canada.
Joint Tendering
From time to time, the Province of P.E.I. participates in joint tendering opportunities with the other Atlantic Provinces. These joint tenders follow the Public Tendering process.
