Directory puts fresh, local food on the map

No matter where you are in Prince Edward Island, the province’s fresh food directory can help find the nearest fresh fish or produce.

The 2017 Fresh Products Directory is available at PEI Flavours or by phoning 1-866-PEIFARM. It can also be found at any of the province’s Visitor Information Centres, liquor stores, Access PEI sites, or the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries offices.

“Educating consumers about our Island food products and where they can get them is important for local producers,” said Charlottetown Farmers Market Manager Bernie Plourde. “The Fresh Products Directory is a great way to showcase our great food product and support our agriculture and fishing industries.”

The directory includes a map to allow for easy navigation from one fresh-food location to another. A “What’s in Season” chart shows when products are available.

“The directory is an excellent user-friendly guide that promotes buying local and the abundance of high quality food products available right across our province,” said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac. “It is one way government can help support the innovative, hard-working producers who make us Canada’s Food Island.”
