Islanders’ input sought on housing strategy
Supporting Island families -
The provincial government wants feedback on housing needs across Prince Edward Island.
Islanders are encouraged to help guide the provincial housing strategy by completing an online survey at princeedwardisland.ca/housingstrategy until February 2. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete and responses are confidential and anonymous.
Paper copies of the survey are also available at Access PEI sites across the province or by calling the Department of Family and Human Services at 902-368-6185 to have a paper copy mailed.
“We want to hear from Islanders about appropriate and affordable housing needs in the province – and about their personal housing experiences – to help us craft the provincial housing strategy,” Family and Human Services Minister Tina Mundy said. “Government continues to invest in social housing, and we will look at more ways to collaborate with municipalities, private developers and communities to meet the current and future housing needs of Islanders.”
Earlier this fall government also assembled a co-development team of housing experts and clients to help create the housing strategy. A housing supply task force was also established to inform the work of this team and identify innovative approaches to address housing challenges across the province.
The provincial housing strategy is expected to be completed in spring 2018.
