Photo contest celebrating agriculture and fisheries industries

Islanders are invited to celebrate two of our primary industries – agriculture and fisheries – through photography, said Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Alan McIsaac.

“Today we are launching the 2016 Celebrate P.E.I. Agriculture and Fisheries Photo Contest. Each year, we invite the public to submit their photos that showcase the beauty of these two industries,” said Minister McIsaac. “These two industries contribute to the stunning landscape we are known so well for on Prince Edward Island and I look forward to seeing those spectacular views caught on camera across the Island this summer.”

Photos can be submitted under seven different categories beginning today and running to Monday, July 25. Categories include: farmscapes, commercial fisheries and aquaculture, celebrating farm and fishing families, P.E.I.’s next generation of farmers and fisheries, fresh from the land and/or sea, animals of agriculture, and the wild side.

This year there will be a special People’s Choice category that will be selected by popular vote from the category winners during Old Home Week and the winner will receive a Surf and Turf Culinary Surprise. Finalists will be showcased at the Celebrate PEI Agriculture Old Home Week event.
