Hon. Gilles Arsenault, Minister Responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs issued the following statement on National Acadian Day:

“Today, I am proud to celebrate National Acadian Day with all Islanders.  On August 15 we recognize Acadie across the Atlantic provinces and celebrate the vitality of our Acadian and Francophone community.

The Franco-tour de l’Île’s (link is external) fourth edition, which runs from August 11 to 15 offers activities for all ages in the six Acadian and Francophone communities of Souris, Charlottetown, Rustico, Summerside, Evangeline and West Prince.

As the Minister Responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs and as a proud Acadian, I invite all Islanders to participate in the activities across the Island where they can learn more about the Acadian history and culture while discovering our beautiful and vibrant community. Come celebrate our joie de vivre!

Happy National Acadian Day! Bonne fête nationale de l’Acadie!”
