Public Archives COVID-19 Project

The Public Archives and Records Office recognizes that the Covid-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on all Islanders. We know there are many things happening to you, your families, and your communities during this difficult time. Every day brings new challenges. There are changes in our daily lives and routines, there are sad moments, scary moments, and moments that challenge us, as well as moments of hope and even happiness.

From across the Island, we are hearing stories of the resiliency and caremongering of Islanders.  In times of great hardship, we have a history of pulling together. This is one of those times.

Share your experience

We invite you to share your experience of how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting your life so that the Public Archives and Records Office may document and preserve this history. Get involved by sending any of the following:

  • messages;
  • photographs that illustrate your personal and family stories; or
  • stories about the impact of Covid-19 on your work.

Send your submission

1. Email: archives@gov.pe.ca

2. Mail written submissions, journals, or diaries at any time to the following address:

Public Archives and Records Office
PO Box 1000 Charlottetown, PE  C1A 7M4

Include your name and contact information (mailing address, phone number) so that we can properly credit the submissions received. The stories and photos will be placed in the Public Archives and preserved to help tell the story of Islanders during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

Archives staff will contact those who make submissions to confirm use and access to the material. Be patient with us as it will take some time before we are able to contact everyone, but we look forward to receiving your stories.

We are in this together. Stay strong and stay safe.
