Why would I make a complaint under the French Language Services Act?

You can make a complaint under the French Language Services Act if a government institution subject to the Act has not complied with the obligations set out by the Act. Before making a complaint, please find out more about the complaints mechanism.

What do I need to fill out the online complaint form?

The online form has to be filled in one sitting. This means that before filling the form you should know:

  • Your name and address;
  • The government institution involved in the incident you are making a complaint about;
  • The date on which the incident took place;
  • The location of the incident (optional);
  • The individuals involved in the incident (optional).

In the form, you will also need to describe the incident that took place and specify how the government institution did not comply with the Act. The form also allows you to upload supporting documents (letter, photo, brochure, etc.); so if there are supporting documents that you would like to submit with the form, they should be ready to be uploaded.

How much time will it take to complete the form?

If all your information is ready, it should take you about 15 minutes to fill out the form. Keep in mind that this can vary depending on how much time it takes you to describe your complaint.
