PEI Senior Islander of the Year Award

The PEI Senior Islander of the Year Awards were created to celebrate the many contributions of Island seniors (65 years and older), and to promote positive images of aging. Examples of contributions may include community activities, community engagement, volunteering, fundraising, education, research, fitness, and/or recreation. 

Who qualifies for a Senior Islander of the Year Award? 

In order to qualify, the nominees must be:

  • 65 years of age or older, both at the time of this nomination and while making their contributions; 
  • A resident of PEI, both at the time of this nomination and while making their contributions;
  • Currently making a difference and active in their community, and;
  • Willing to stand for nomination and agree to participate in internal and external communications to promote the award recipient(s).

Please note that past recipients are not eligible to be nominated again, and posthumous nominations are not eligible.

How do I nominate someone?

You can nominate a senior by downloading and completing the nomination form. For those who are unable to download a nomination form, you can contact us to be provided with a copy.  

Nominations can be submitted by: 

  • email, to seniors@gov.pe.ca(link sends e-mail)
  • mail, at Senior Islander of the Year Awards (Attn: Seniors Secretariat), 2nd floor Jones Building, 11 Kent Street, Charlottetown PE, C1A 7N8. 

What is included as part of the nomination process? 

Those who are interested in nominating a senior for a PEI Senior Islander of the Year award are asked to complete the nomination form in full and provide a minimum of two letters of support detailing the reasons for the nomination.

Who reviews the nominations?

Nominations are reviewed by a subcommittee of the PEI Seniors' Secretariat.

What is the nomination deadline?

Nominations are being accepted until Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
