Register a PEI Defibrillator
Any community or organization with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for public use is encouraged to register the life-saving device with Health PEI Emergency Health Services. The AED registry allows emergency responders to quickly locate the closest defibrillator when someone calls in a sudden cardiac arrest. Using the online database, a 9-1-1 dispatcher can direct the caller or bystander to retrieve the nearest device and instruct its use until paramedics arrive.
Quick access to a defibrillator combined with CPR increases the chance of survival.
Does a registered AED have to be accessible 24-hours a day?
No, you can identify when your AED will be accessible to the public in the “availability” section of the registration form. Should a sudden cardiac arrest occur near your AED and outside of the accessible hours that you have identified, your device will not display as an available AED to a 911 operator.
