Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

On behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, His Honour the Honourable H. Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, will present the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, to four residents of Prince Edward Island. The ceremony will take place at Government House, Charlottetown, on Monday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m. and is by invitation only.  This is the first presentation ceremony to be held on Prince Edward Island.  It will also recognize the eleven Islanders who received this honour in July, during a ceremony hosted by the Governor General at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, in Halifax.

The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.  As an official Canadian honour, the Medal for Volunteers incorporates and replaces the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.  The Medal builds on the legacy and spirit of the Caring Canadian Award by honouring the dedication and commitment of volunteers.
