Agricultural Insurance Corporation Appeal Board
To hear appeals concerning Crop Insurance when a party is aggrieved by a final order of the Agricultural Insurance Corporation and then determine a final order or finding.
What is the function of the board?
To hear appeals and prepare a written decision with the assistance of a lawyer.
Primary Role: Adjudicative
Material Role:
- Advisory
- Managerial/Oversight
How many people are on the board?
Composed of no less than three persons of whom:
- (a) two shall be knowledgeable in regard to agriculture and
- (b) one shall be a public accountant.
What are the requirements of board members?
Work & Experience Requirements
Understanding of agriculture practices and agriculture economics.
Skills Required
Mediation and Tribunal Skills.
What are the nomination requirements?
Statutory Nomination Requirements
The Minister shall appoint all members.
Will I get paid?
Chair - $161/diem and Members - $109/diem.
What is the time commitment of the board?
Time commitments are based on appeals.
The term of office of a member of the Appeal Board is three years and a member is eligible for re-appointment.
