Regulated Health Professions Councils
Would you like to support a health profession by sitting on one of the regulated councils as a public representative? The role of each of the Regulated Health Professions Councils are to ensure standards of practice, regulate the practice of the health profession, and other duties. As a public representative, your role helps provide for accountability to the public for the regulated health professions.
Councils under the Regulated Health Professions Act include:
- Council of the Prince Edward Island College of Occupational Therapists
- Council of the College of Allied Health Professionals of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Counselling Therapy of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Dental Hygienists of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Dietitians of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Massage Therapists of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island
- Council of the Prince Edward Island College of Pharmacy
- Council of the Prince Edward Island College of Physiotherapy
- Council of the Prince Edward Island Dental College
- Council of the College of Optometrists of Prince Edward Island
Members may not receive a per diem for this board but may be eligible for reimbursement for travel expenses to attend meetings and events.

Student Financial Assistance Corporation Appeal Board
The Department of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population, Post-Secondary and Continuing Education Division, is currently seeking applications from Island residents interested in serving on the Student Financial Assistance Corporation Appeal Board. The role of this board is to review or re-examine all appeals of decisions made by the PEI Student Financial Assistance Corporation. The Appeal Board must adhere to the principles and criteria outlined in the Canada Student Financial Assistance Policy Manual and PEI’s Student Financial Assistance Corporation Act and Regulations in order to:
- Determine that the province has correctly applied the need assessment and review criteria, or
- Determine that the province had incorrectly applied the criteria and refer the case back to the province for further consideration.
Members are appointed to serve terms of up to 3 years (post-secondary student members serve one year) and are eligible for reappointment. Members cannot serve more than two consecutive terms.
Members receive $73 per meeting. The Chairperson receives $113 per meeting.
