Valuing Diversity in PEI

Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

Prince Edward Island is home to people coming from different ethnic backgrounds, generations and cultural identities. In the public service our goal is to support a work environment that respects and values diversity.

Diversity refers to all of the characteristics that make individuals different from each other.

PEI diversity groups include identities such as:

  • age
  • ethnicity
  • sexual orientation
  • language
  • physical/ mental disability
  • economic status
  • political beliefs, education level, family status, thinking styles, geographic location, immigration status, and many more.

The diversity of PEI’s population is greater than ever before with an increasing immigrant population as well as a growing aboriginal community.

There are currently Islanders from 90 different cultures residing in PEI.
